The Story Of Coal
Visualizing What is Invisible to Most of Us
One of the problems with burning coal is that most people never come anywhere near it, so they don’t see the impacts that it has. They don’t have a clear mental picture of what their electricity use means, and talking about abstract numbers (pounds, tons, and megatons of carbon aren’t easy to related to) isn’t helping much. That’s why I think this short film is great; it’s not the first one to do try to break down coal use into a scale that people can more easily grasp, but I think it does a particularly good job.
